Email Me Call MeThe coal mining legacy is not the only risk to a development – the risk assessment also considers the risk posed by the extraction of other minerals such as limestone and oil shale.
If your site is in a Development High Risk Area as specified by The Coal Authority then a Coal Mining Risk Assessment will need to be submitted to the local planning authority in support of planning applications.
A Coal Mining Risk Assessment comprises a desk-based consultation of available geological records held by The Coal Authority to assess the risk posed by recorded and/or unrecorded coal assets to surface stability and from mine gas emissions.
If a site is indicated to be affected by coal assets then further site-based investigation may be required to establish the risk to the site and the proposed development.
