Second Committee Draft of revised ISO 14001 Standard is published

The second Committee Draft of the revised ISO 14001 Standard was published on 21 October 2013 and will be open for a 3 month consultation period.
The first Committee Draft of the revised ISO 14001 Standard was published earlier this year and closed for consultation at the end of April 2013.
Based on comments from the first Committee Draft, the following key changes have been made to the second Committee Draft as summarised by The Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), a key U.K. representative on the working group for the revised standard.
- A greater focus on improving environmental performance across the value chain;
- Strengthened requirements on the involvement of senior management and the integration of environment management into core business processes and corporate strategy; and
- Greater clarity on external communication, including emphasis on the quality of data.
IEMA will be engaging with its members to ask for comments on the second Committee Draft by the end of 2013.
