Gibdock achieves certification to ISO 45001:2018
29th August 2018
Gibdock has underlined its commitment to occupational health and safety by becoming the first shipyard in the Mediterranean region, and one of the first companies worldwide, to achieve ISO 45001:2018 certification. Mabbett provided consultancy assistance to Gibdock and are delighted the company has now achieved the goal of certification to the international health and safety management standard.
Francis Mauro, QHSE Manager – Gibdock, says, “we started work to move over to the new standard with the support of our consultants, Mabbett, earlier this year, even before the ISO 45001:2018 standard had been officially published. It took a lot of work, and needed engagement throughout the workforce, from our top management down, to update our policies and processes to make sure we were ready as soon as the new standard was in force. This preparation proved invaluable and we are pleased we were able to achieve the new standard at the first attempt.”
Geraldine Boylan, Director – Environment, Quality and Training – Mabbett, comments, “our team worked alongside the IMS team/management systems team at Gibdock to assist the successful transition to ISO 9001 and 14001:2015 and we were delighted to be retained to assist with the migration to ISO 45001 with audit activities, implementation plan development and legal compliance consulting. We commend Gibdock and the management team for their leadership on workplace safety and continued improvement of health and safety management and performance.”
