Heights, lemons, snaps, speeches and a delightful Italian ending…the Mabbett way of rocking a Training Day!
21st May 2015
Last Friday, 15 May 2015, the whole Mabbett team got together to celebrate our past successes, discuss continuous improvement and finalise our new business plan goals, while having a whole lot of fun in-between. With this being our 7th Mabbett Training Day (MTD), these professional development days have grown from strength to strength, along with our company thanks to our loyal clients.
MTD VII was kick-started with Glaswegian breakfast rolls for the hard-work of number crunching and business plan goal setting. Hearing from each team gives us all an opportunity to share in the company’s activity and learn about the different specialisms our colleagues offer. With having so many niche services and a large amount of expertise under one company, sharing knowledge increases the benefits we can offer our clients so they can See a Difference in a number of ways.
See a Difference is a promise to our clients, our motto for the work we do, and sometimes a test to see if we’ve aged in a year…yes, we’ve had another staff photoshoot! Photographer Guy Hinks came in at lunch – we do love a picture here at Mabbett.
Following on from our photoshoot, we did some newspaper tower, lemon-holding team building. Always a hit with the competitive engineers, their skills, Chartership and ease-of-character certainly was put to the test. ChemEng vs. M&E, Environmentalists vs. our H&S genius’ (who have more letters after their name than you would believe)…it was a close call needing a tie break question to distinguish the winners!
Public Speaking is often a fear, even for those who do it regularly – and like most things, there’s always more to learn. Seeking to be the best in our fields, we were privileged to have Jane Cameron of Speakers Trust come in to teach (and show) us how to speak well, speak confidently and speak effectively. At Mabbett, we deliver accredited Training Courses (IEMA and IOSH), Environmental Management System workshops, ESOS seminars, Water Conservation presentations, Health & Safety guidance, etc. – the list goes on – so it was extremely helpful having Jane give us public speaking pointers and top tips.
The rest of the day consisted of a session on Operational Excellence focused on improving our business for the benefit of our clients, delivered by our Chairman, Arthur N. Mabbett. This session was followed by an Operational Excellence group discussion and presentation. Closing with a Mabbett Promise Pledge and a classic Mabbett Quiz, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and are geared up for our next financial year. As always, we want our clients to once again See a Difference and we are up for the challenge.
Last but not least, our delightful Italian ending was at one of our favourite restaurants in town, Sarti’s on Renfield Street, where you really can’t go wrong with Sarti’s main man Renato and of course, some red, red, wine!
See a Difference…See Mabbett!
