National Road Safety Week 2017
24th November 2017
This week, November 20 – 26, is Road Safety Week. We want to highlight this as an important issue, not only for our company, but for our clients and the general public.
The UK theme this year is “Speed Down, Save Lives”, highlighting the dangers of speeding on UK roads.
Every day, five people are killed, and more than 66 people are seriously injured on UK roads. Breaking the speed limit or travelling too fast for conditions contributed to 349 fatal crashes and 11,570 crashes in total on roads in Britain last year.
For a lot of companies, including ours, the highest risk activity is driving – and this puts not only ourselves and our own safety at risk, but also the safety of others.
The Road Safety Week website has lots of great resources and information, including one which is particularly helpful – an interactive stopping distance calculator. This tests your knowledge on how far it would take to stop your car when driving at different speeds.
This week, we are encouraging our staff and clients to take some time to have a look at the Road Safety Week website and these resources. It is extremely important that as drivers, we are keeping ourselves informed and aware to reduce risk as much as possible.
